Richard Susskind OBE is an author, speaker, and independent adviser to major professional firms and national governments; he is also an economics lecturer at Balliol College, University of Oxford. His main area of expertise is the future of professional service and, in particular, the ways in which IT and the internet are changing the work of lawyers and related professions. Susskind lectures internationally, both in person and electronically, and has been invited to speak in over 40 countries. In 2000, he was appointed to Most Excellent Order of the British Empire  (OBE) for services to IT in the Law and to the Administration of Justice. He has addressed more than 250,000 people and has written and edited numerous books, including The Future of the Professions: How Technology Will Transform the Work of Human Experts. Susskind is the President of the Society for Computers and Law. Susskind earned his law degree at University of Glasgow, and his doctorate in Computers and Law at Balliol College, University of Oxford.
