Doaa Samy is an Associate Researcher at the Computational Linguistics Laboratory at the Autónoma University of Madrid (LLI-UAM). She is also a Lecturer-Professor of Computational and Applied Linguistics at Cairo University, Egypt. Samy’s affiliation to the laboratory dates back to 2002 when she started her postgraduate studies under the supervision of Professor Antonio Moreno Sandoval, the Head of the LLI-UAM Research Group. Samy’s main area of interest is computational linguistics and natural language processing, specifically the development of multilingual language resources and tools in the Arabic language. She has contributed to different topics related to information extraction and retrieval, such as named entity recognition, detection of semantic relations, time expressions, and question answering.
