Richard King is the Chief Legal Operations Officer at Herbert Smith Freehills. He is responsible for a number of teams involved in the central management function of the firm, including pro bono and citizenship, the program management office, internal and external communications, management services, and legal operations (comprising legal project management, legal process improvement, pricing, innovation, and automation).
Formerly, King was responsible for knowledge management at Herbert Smith Freehills, working closely with the firm’s professional support lawyers, library and information, and the learning and development team. King qualified as a solicitor in 1989 and worked as a professional trainer in law firms for 9 years. More recently, he was a partner and director for Andersen and Ernst & Young in strategic management roles for their associated law practices before rejoining Herbert Smith Freehills in 2004.
